Major Poster

Poster exercise asked us to carefully and fully examine and reflect on one of the buildings we visited, particularly with respect to its broader socio-cultural and physical context.

I had always been fascinated by Renzo Piano's Sydney office tower ever since its construction began, so this was a really enjoyable opportunity to spend time experiencing, analysing, contemplating and researching the process of the building conception, integration and construction in the context of Sydney.

Field Trip 1-Homebush

The structure of the field trips was centered around physically experiencing local architecture and making observations and drawings. During the site visits we were asked to reflect upon issues such as: context; spatial order and organisation; functionality; materiality; structure; and external and internal conditions.

I really enjoyed this opportunity to experience physical architecture, which was a great balance to the heavy digital component to much of the other subjects offered. It also sparked a personal awareness and interest in Australia's rich architectural history, which has motivated me to travel around Australia to experience the architecture of other states.
